There is so much to tell about this beautiful 1960's designer dress it's hard to know where to begin. The designer, Samuel Sherman goes under The Dressmaker label here but is better known for his work with 60s/70s boutique brand Dollyrockers. This dress looks to be a 1960s style as in the seventies he moved more towards the peasant dress look.
The design is a lengthy shirt with nicely pointed collar and a tie belt - which has no belt loos and so sits where your waist is as opposed to where the designer thinks your waist should be.
Fastening down the entire front, the buttons are a gorgeous purple marbled effect and all 16 are in place. The long sleeves finish with a long narrow cuff that has three buttons to fasten each side. The dress is tailored to fit at the front but has no other tailoring and falls at a gentle A line to ankle height. The dress has been expertly made with lovely featured such as the ribbon facing at the button placket. There is no fabric content but I would say has a brushed cotton feel although there must be mixed fibres as the fabric has a small degree of stretch.
It is a real vintage treasure and one that will certainly be an investment piece for the new owner.
